SMA introducing NAMA Grading.

Over the last few years, SMA have been working in conjunction NAMA (the National Association of Motor Auctions) and other auction companies throughout the UK, to devise a consistent grading system for vehicles. This grading system forms the basis of an industry standard bringing a long awaited stability and confidence in the grades assigned to vehicles at auction.

By introducing this new grading system, sellers and buyers can be confident that the vehicles offered for sale are appraised and graded consistently, no matter which auction centre they are at and distance buying no longer needs to be a barrier.

This consistency not only covers the grades themselves, but also the training and audit of inspectors at each auction site.

SMA introduced the new grading system on the 1st of December 2014, it is important that all of our customers make themselves aware of what the change will mean.

Our grading system is changing

NAMA grading has been developed to provide a long awaited industry standard grading scheme to be used across all auctions within the UK.

We have now introduced NAMA grading across our sites, and over the coming weeks you will notice more vehicles being offered for sale displaying a NAMA grade. These grades are easy to identify as they are 1,2,3,4,5 and U in place of the SMA grades A,B,C,D and E.

Please make sure you have familiarised yourself with the grades. We will still produce condition reports providing additional information for each vehicle as we always have.
