Tactical Repair - Control the
Costs & the Value - the Better Route to Effective
Remarketing
The value of every de-fleeted car is a key part of
maximising the bottom line. Now, SMA Vehicle Remarketing has
developed a new service designed to help fleet and finance
companies to establish the cost/benefit of enhancing the condition
of each and every car. In today's tough economic climate, the
ability to accountably add money to each sale is just a click
away.
Designed to give sellers the opportunity to enhance saleability,
Tactical Repair has been developed by SMA to place sellers in total
control of refurbishment. On arrival at one of SMA's auction
centres, every vehicle from customers opting into the service is
fully appraised by one of SMA's trained inspectors, to identify
damage that could negatively impact sales value. Repair
costs on an itemised basis are established, along with estimates
for the likely impact on re-sale value.
In a competitive market, the opportunity to enhance the stock
profile of their de-fleeted stock has gained immediate support from
a number of SMA's fleet vendor customers, including ALD Automotive,
Tusker Direct and Ogilvie Fleet. Each of these businesses is
keen to ensure their stock stands out from the crowd to help it to
gain a premium. Tactical Repair from SMA now provides a new
method of increasing value accountably, with each of the businesses
able to have repairs completed in their entirety or on an
item-by-item basis. With robust data on cost to repair and
anticipated sale price they can now make a more informed
decision.
The whole process is undertaken on just in time principles,
facilitated by a newly developed web-based tracking process to
ensure that 'pace' is retained in the sales process.
Vendors are in full control, using their dedicated login details
they can review recommendations and authorise work based upon the
detailed assessment provided. If the vendor has various
accounts for different departments or branches, each account will
have a separate page on the web portal. This way the remarketing
team can have access to view all sites on an account by account
basis with one log in. Throughout the service, customers
receive emails informing them of their vehicles progress from
inspection to work in hand, updating the completion timescale.
The goal is to help vendors to accountably make a valued
assessment on refurbishment; the process is easy to use and fully
auditable.
Managing Director Bob Anderson notes;
"We know that there is growing demand for showroom ready
stock from buyers, but quite rightly vendors want the reassurance
that the cost of refurbishment will deliver extra value. This
latest innovation bridges this knowledge gap further than ever
before. We have the facilities to refurbish cars on site and
now we can help sellers to establish the cost/value of undertaking
the work. We think many vendors will be pleasantly
surprised".
Initially available to fleet customers, the business plans to
roll out the service to all vendors in the months ahead.
