SMA & DVLA Register
Success
The rise in demand for private number plates is
clear based upon the outstanding result achieved at the latest DVLA
Auction managed by SMA Remarketing. Records tumbled with over
4500 registered bidders competing for a wide selection of numbers
released for sale by the DVLA.
With 4500 bidders, it was clear that activity would be bustling
at the auction, which took place at Down Hall Country House hotel
near Bishops Stortford from Wed 28th- Fri
30th September. In total the sale secured £3.1M of
sales, the best result in over a year, exceeding the anticipated
value by over £200,000.
Commenting on the success SMA Group Managing Director, Bob
Anderson observed; "the success of the auction can be
attributed to a highly effective marketing campaign that saw a very
significant bidder audience from both private and trade
buyers. In the current economic climate, it is easy to
recognise that some consumers are changing their car's registration
rather than the car itself, but nonetheless reaching out to the
right customers does require a high level of skill, after all a
personalised number plate is by definition a very personal
item".
And the highest selling registration number? It was one
that encompassed the sense of humour that often marks out a
personalised plate, and as the man himself would say 'Lovely
Jubbly!"
DE11 BOY, which sold for £35,330
The next DVLA auction will take place at the Dormy House Hotel
near Broadway in Worcestershire from Wed Nov 30th to Fri
2nd December 2011. Another very busy auction is
already expected based upon early interest to date.
