New Jobs & New Choice
as Northern Ireland Embraces SMA Remarketing
It was packed at SMA Auctions new
Remarketing Centre on the A6 Belfast City Derry Rd, as motor trade
buyers, sellers, local politicians and an array of assorted
guests came out in force to see and bid at SMA's first ever auction
for used cars in Northern Ireland - and the day turned out to be a
resounding success, underpinning SMA's decision to invest in
Northern Ireland and create up to 40 new jobs.
SMA Vehicle Remarketing has succeeded in running its first
auction in Northern Ireland, with staff from across the Group
training and supporting a team of new recruits who embraced the day
to help customers find their way around the 5 acres complex and
help them to find the car or cars they required. In the
coming weeks recruitment will continue and in total up to 40 new
jobs are expected to be created.
A strong industry reputation for quality had enticed a strong
supply of high quality cars from local dealer groups, fleets,
finance providers and Motability and subsequently bidding was brisk
from the word go. By the end of the auction as buyers and
guests retreated to the to the restaurant facilities the vast
majority of cars on offer had sold under the hammer.
Group Managing Director Bob Anderson proudly reflected on the
day:
"We were confident that the formula we have developed for
remarketing well presented cars and vans accurately described in a
friendly knowledgeable environment would be welcome and it has
been. In just 6 weeks from the decision to invest in Northern
Ireland with the help and support of the local community, whom I
would like to thank, we have opened for business and I could not
have been prouder of the success achieved by the new team today, it
bodes well for our future here".
Following on from the success of the initial auction, planned
future activity has been accelerated with the next auction now
scheduled for Monday September 20th at 1.30PM, open to
both the trade and public - thereafter weekly auctions are planned
to be introduced taking place each Monday.
